Over the course of its seasons, HBO’s The White Lotus has massively driven interest and tourism to the unique destinations it features. Season 3 of the show takes place in Koh Samui, a stunning island located in the Gulf of Thailand that serves as the perfect setting for a White Lotus resort, and had many viewers rushing to book their next flight to Thailand.
While most fans know that The White Lotus was primarily filmed at The Four Seasons Koh Samui, many are unaware that scenes from the show’s resort were actually filmed at 5 different hotels across Koh Samui and Phuket. Thanks to the magic of editing, you would never know they were actually completely different locations from watching the show alone!
If you’re a big fan of the show and this past season inspired you to book your own Thailand getaway, here are 7 hotels that were featured in The White Lotus’ Thailand season that you can actually stay at!

The island of Koh Samui was the main setting for Season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus. With some of the most luxurious hotels in Thailand, it’s easy to see why Koh Samui was chosen for the location of The White Lotus’ Thailand resort. The majority of filming took place on this island, featuring 3 luxurious hotels that you can stay at!

The Four Seasons Koh Samui served as the primary filming location for the White Lotus Hotel in Season 3 of The White Lotus. The resort was completely shut down for four months during filming, and the cast and crew stayed on-site throughout the process. With an exclusive location on a hillside overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, Four Seasons Koh Samui is undeniably spectacular and is the perfect resort to celebrate a honeymoon, special occasion, or just a splurge during your time in Thailand.

I had the opportunity to tour Four Seasons Koh Samui, where I was shown some of the most iconic filming locations, including the pool and bar area, the fantastic on-site restaurant, and a few of the private villas, including the one where the Ratcliff family stayed during their time on the island (and yes, there WERE in fact “suicide fruit” trees throughout the resort)!

Located in the heart of Bophut village, Anantara Bophut is an elegant beachfront resort that was used as the filming location for the White Lotus’ hotel lobby, gift shop, massage room, hotel security, and the “old lady” beach club.

Staying at Anantara Bophut is a great choice for those who want the White Lotus experience at a more accessible price point than the Four Seasons, since it was featured in so many scenes and would still be recognizable as the White Lotus Resort. It also has a beautiful stretch of beach, an excellent on-site bar and Thai restaurant, and is the perfect location for exploring Bophut’s charming Fisherman’s Village.

Just down the road from Anantara Bophut is Anantara Lawana, where I personally stayed during my time in Koh Samui. The hotel’s “Singing Bird Lounge” was used as the filming location for the bar where Chelsea and Chloe meet for the first time. Getting a White Lotus-themed cocktail here was such a fun experience – I got the “Gaitok” cocktail, named after one of my favorite characters from Season 3, and it was absolutely delicious!

Like Anantara Bophut, Anantara Lawana offers a more affordable option than the Four Seasons for a White Lotus experience in Koh Samui. As a bonus, the on-site Tree Tops Signature Dining restaurant is one of the best fine dining experiences in Koh Samui, serving artful interpretations of traditional Thai cuisine.

While the majority of Season 3 takes place in Koh Samui, Bangkok was the secondary location featured in The White Lotus. The two hotels below were used as filming locations for the Bangkok scenes.

One of Bangkok’s most luxurious hotels, the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok has repeatedly won numerous awards, including The Daily Telegraph’s “Best Hotel in the World”. On top of that, not only is The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok one of the best hotels in all of Asia, but it’s also one of the oldest hotels, dating back to 1876!

If you are looking to stay in a world-class luxury hotel during your time in Bangkok, it doesn’t get much better than the Mandarin Oriental. The Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is the hotel where Rick stayed during his time in Bangkok.

Rick stayed in the “Oriental Suite,” the hotel’s most luxurious suite, which has hosted royal families and celebrities such as Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger. With its prime location along the river and just across from ICONSiam, the Mandarin Oriental is definitely one of Thailand’s top “bucket list” hotels to stay at.

Siri Sala Private Villa is a stunning private villa located in a quiet location along Bangkok’s canals. Just by taking a quick look at photos of the property, it’s easy to see why Siri Sala was chosen as the filming location for the White Lotus Hotel owner’s residency in the show. Its stunning traditional design pays homage to a bygone era, while exuding modern-day luxury Thai design.
Siri Sala is a true passion project. The owners worked with local craftsmen to upcycle the home’s original wood, windows, and doors, turning a formerly dilapidated canal home into the stunning property it is today!

While the island of Phuket wasn’t ever featured in Season 3 of The White Lotus, multiple locations across the island were used for filming, including 2 luxury resorts.

Rosewood Phuket is a stunning 5-star resort with an exclusive location in Phuket’s west coast, along the beautiful Patong Bay. The property’s on-site restaurant, “Tai Khai”, was used to film the White Lotus’ beachside restaurant, where the hotel owner performed for the guests. Tai Khai is truly one of the best dining experiences in Phuket, and even if you choose not to stay in the hotel, dining here is an unforgettable experience in terms of atmosphere, service, and incredible Thai cuisine!

Another Anantara location that was featured in The White Lotus, Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, was used as the filming location for the outdoor area of the Spa at White Lotus Koh Samui. Located on the quiet northern side of Phuket near Mai Khao Beach, Anantara Mai Khao has a completely different atmosphere from the more touristic areas you’ll find in the southern part of the island. Each villa has its own private pool and is surrounded by lush gardens, so it’s perfect for those who are looking for a more tranquil Phuket experience than the party scene the island is so famous for.
Whether you’re just a curious fan of the show or actively planning a luxurious White Lotus-themed Thailand trip, it’s easy to see why the writers chose these hotels as the filming locations for The White Lotus’ Thailand Season.
The one thing that every hotel featured in The White Lotus has in common is an air of pure luxury. Thai hospitality is truly unmatched, so you can expect absolute top-notch service, and all of the hotels that served as filming locations have the exact same luxurious design and high standard of care that you would expect from an actual White Lotus resort.
Each of these hotels truly has something unique to offer, and trust me, the opportunity to stay at any of them will make for an incredibly memorable experience in Thailand!
